Supporters of Mahinda Rajapaksa are prepared to contest the General election under a separate front if they are unable to contest under the ticket of the United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA), 'Sri Lanka Mirror' learns.
The symbol of this new front - 'Ape Sri Lanka Nidahas Peramuna' is said to be a 'flower bud'.
At the moment, Pro-Mahinda supporters are signing nominations under this particular party as well, at the Mirihana residence of the former President, reports add.
Former minister Basil Rajapaksa is in charge of organising activities pertaining to this, reports further say.
If the 'Ape Jathika Peramuna' does not contest the upcoming General election, the 'Ape Sri Lanka Nidahas Peramuna' will be placed right at the top of the ballot card, sources say.
