UNP raises suspicions on Susil Premjayantha

The United National Party (UNP) today raised suspicions on United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) General Secretary Susil Premjayantha.
Former UNP Parliamentarian Dr. Harsha de Silva said that questions have been raised with regards to a meeting held at his residence with UPFA members.
He said that despite the denials, it seemed clear that a secret meeting did take place at Premjayantha’s residence on Thursday night.
Television footage also showed several prominent UPFA members leaving  Premjayantha’s residence, including former Parliamentarian Basil Rajapaksa.
Premjayantha had however denied that Basil Rajapaksa was at his house that night and that it was a private meeting.
United National Party Western Provincial Councilor S.M.Marikkar, meanwhile, said that Premjayantha was overseas for a few days and there was suspicion he had met some UPFA members to make a secret deal.
Premjayantha had yesterday issued a media statement stating that the UPFA had agreed to give former President Mahinda Rajapaksa nominations to contest the Parliament elections. (Colombo Gazette)
