Attempt to make SLFP break away from UPFA

From SL Mirror
A group that supported Maithripala Sirisena at the presidential election is making an attempt to make the SLFP break away from the UPFA, reports reaching ‘Sri Lanka Mirror’ say.
When SLM asked SLFP general secretary Anura Priyadarshana Yapa as to whether there was an attempt to make the SLFP break away from the UPFA, he said he was not aware of such an attempt.
He said the elections commissioner has been informed that the UPFA, of which the SLFP is the main stakeholder, would contest the general election.
Before taking any such decision, the SLFP executive committee should meet, for which purpose, there is no time left, he said.
The SLFP has a 50 per cent stake and the power of another person in the UPFA.
meeting tonight
Meanwhile, the SLFP faction that supported Maithripala Sirisena at the presidential election is due to have a discussion with the JHU tonight (05).
The two sides will discuss the possibility of joining together to contest the general election.
If an agreement is reached, both sides will have a meeting with the UNP later tonight or tomorrow, reports say.
The JHU has already left the UPFA and has said that it would contest under the ‘diamond’ symbol of the United National Front of Good Governance.
