The chief of the Welikada Prison - Anura Ekanayake has been transferred with immediate effect, reports say.
It is rumored that Ekanayake has been thus transferred due to providing special favours to general secretary of Bodu Bala Sena, Ven Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thera, who is currently in remand custody.
Following the court order to hold the Thera in remand custody, he was initially taken to Colombo Remand Prison and later admitted to the prison hospital, reports say.
'Sri Lanka Mirror' learns that Ekanayake has been summoned to the Prison Headquarters.
Attempts made to contact the Minister of Law and Order & Southern Development - Sagala Ratnayaka were unsuccessful as he was attending a parliamentary debate.
