One of the persons killed was the brother in law of famous Bloemendhal Prince Colum who was killed by the mob in 2007. Preliminary investigations revealed that the victims are from three different houses in the area where the killings took place. Victims are identified as 24 year old Salitha Nipuna (Married to Prince Colum's sister?), 19 year old Tharindu Dilshan Senaratne, 49 year old Mohammed Rizmi (uncle of Tharindu).
All victims have been shot at least three times each. Apparently the assassins arrived in a three wheeler wearing face masks. Entrance to each premises has been done forcibly after announcing that it is the Police who were at the doorsteps of the victims. Also Police have discovered a stock of Kerala Ganja from the premises of Salitha Nipuna. Investigations are continuing to apprehend the suspects.
Magisterial inquiry is to be held later in the day.
