From The Sunday Leader - In a Nutshell

The group that calls themselves the joint opposition last week made their way to Seenigama seeking divine intervention against the moves by the yahapalanaya to catch the thieves of the past regime. The event commenced with the group organizing a robbery to steal coconuts to be dashed at the temple. They then marched to Seenigama and made their way to the boats to carry them to the temple that is located in an island a little off the shore. The group was taken by shock to realize that the boats were parked near the shore and the engines removed. The cardboard heroes were left on the shore for a while to figure out how they could make their way to the temple. Divine message to the group you think? Hmm.

Giving The Slip
A ministering angel of the yahapalanaya government who was also an angle in the former regime, it is learnt, is giving the slip to the Commission that investigates all connected to bribes and frauds. This Row-jitter type, it is learnt, has avoided appearing before the Commission on several occasions when he was summoned claiming he had either a meeting or a function to attend with a VVIP. Interestingly, the angel in question is one who has shouted coarse against corruption and called for the arrest of many members of the former regime. However, when it is now his turn to respond to allegations, the angel is busy giving it the slip. So much for commitment for justice and transparency.

Out Of Mind
Out of sight is out of mind they say. The truth behind this age old adage has once again come to pass at the three month death anniversary of leading Buddhist monk who expired recently. This monk played a key role in bringing about the yahapalana change in the country. However, three months after his demise, it was only the Kind one who heads the speakers in parliament who was present at the third month almsgiving of this revered monk. The thousands of politicos who attended the funeral were not present and as it seemed had forgotten the monk completely. Short memories, eh.

Family Ties
It was nepotism that was one of the main issues that brought about the downfall of the former regime. The new bunch gained the confidence of the people claiming to act against such ills. Nevertheless, siblings, off spring and relatives of some VVIPs are now occupying key positions of the State yet again. The latest appointment that is being promoted is that of Amour-ee, a close relative of the Prime angel of the country. The relative, it is learnt, has been proposed to head the country’s mission in Ole Blighty. Still waiting to see the change anyone? Hik.
