The government has decided to appoint former Editor of Sunday Leader newspaper Sonali Samarasinghe Wikrematunge as the Sri Lanka Minister Counsellor of the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
The government has decided to appoint former Editor of Sunday Leader newspaper Sonali Samarasinghe Wikrematunge as the Sri Lanka Minister Counsellor of the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
The decision has been taken at the cabinet meeting held on Wednesday.
The widow of murdered Sunday Leader Editor Lasantha Wikcrematunge, Sonali Samarasinghe Wickrematunga, had to flee the island for safety during the Rajapaksa rule.
In addition,the cabinet approval has been given to appoint D.G Cyril Gunapala as the Minister Counsellor of Sri Lankan Embassy in Australia and to appoint Mohomad Sanushi Haneefa as the Third Secretary at Sri Lanka High Commission in Britain
