Move to ban ‘Facebook’ & news websites

Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa, enraged by the deflating popular support for his campaign, is preparing to censor ‘facebook’ and news websites, the media he has not been able to tame, with the beginning of the new year say reports.
All state and private TV and radio channels are controlled by a despotic fist and the participation of the JVP, a strong attacker of Mahinda Rajapaksa government and revealer of its frauds and corruption in political programmes telecast or broadcast by private channels, has been blocked and also creations of artistes who express views contrary to that of Rajapaksa government have been censored.
As he has not been able to control views published in news websites and the ‘Facebook’ against his dictatorial administration and frauds, corruption and wasteful spending that take place, there is a move to ban news websites and ‘Facebook’ in Sri Lanka say internal sources of the government.
Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa’s threat at an election rally held yesterday (31st) that no opportunity would be given to topple the government through ‘Facebook’ confirms this.
