Following
Maithripala Sirisena's swearing-in as President of the Country, Ven. Maduluwawe
Sobhitha Thera has been having a tough time and he is being besieged by an army
of high post seekers.
Sobhitha
Thero says many people have been coming to his temple these to seek his
assistance to obtain high posts, such as governors, ministers and chairmen in
the new government.
"Yesterday
even the sweeper of the temple precincts was asking me to obtain a governor's
post for him. I am virtually besieged by an army of high post seekers," he
said.
He revealed
this at a meeting held at the Kotte Naga Viharaya recently.
Sobhitha
Thero said "We built this movement to agitate for the abolition of the
cursed Executive Presidency, and to promote a democratic just and corruption-free
society. We are not an employment agency, as some people seem to think. We will
forge ahead with no let up until we realize our goal, a just society." The
meeting had been organized by Dr. Nirmal Ranjith Dewasiri, convenor of People's
Movement for a just society.
