Prior to assuming duties at his office at Temple Trees today (16), prime minister yesterday went there to obtain an inventory.
As he was inspecting each room there, several dogs had jumped at him when he opened one room. The staff came to his rescue and got the dogs back into the room. The premier inquired from them about the owner of these well built dogs.
Explaining, the staff told him that when the former president vacated Temple Trees last Friday, he forgot the dogs, as he had more valuable items than them to take away. Mr. Wickremesinghe told them to call and ask if the president or his family was willing to accommodate these dogs.
If they refuse to accept them, the premier told the staff to keep the dogs at Temple Trees.
“I will not come to live here. I will carryout my official functions only at Temple Trees. So, let these dogs remain here,” he said with a smile.
