Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa who play-acted leaving Temple Trees and stated he would allow Mr. Maithripala Sirisena to function smoothly as president of the country is engaged in a move to destabilize the country by amassing people, making statements that arouse communalism and sympathy to him. Political analysts say the move is for a political path that would create chaos in the country.
They compare the situation with incidents that were carried out immediately after the 2010 presidential election.
At that election the candidate of the opposition who contested against Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa was arrested with false charges and was imprisoned interpreting laws effective to the past.
Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa who carried out such a scheme then has come out of the Temple Trees saying he would hand over power to Mr. Maithripala Sirisena and is amassing people while MPs of his faction hold media conferences and come out with statements in an attempt to win sympathy to Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Political analysts say the scheme of Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa and his former colleagues in the government is to create a situation that would save them from inevitable charges for frauds and corruption during their tenure. They say the new government should take action without any delay as the scheme of Rajapaksa faction is to amass people through sympathy and communalism.
