Rathana brokered Maithri-Mahinda union!

From LankaNewsWeb

The highly controversial reunion between Maithripala Sirisena and Mahinda Rajapaksa had been brokered by Athuraliye Rathana Thera, convener of Pivithuru Hetak organization, reports say. The foundation for this was laid at the discussion Rathana Thera had with Basil Rajapaksa, when the latter was warded at Merchant Ward of Colombo National Hospital under remand custody.

It was Basil who had proposed that Mahinda be given nominations from the SLFP. Rathana Thera had said in the beginning that the president would never agree to that, and refused to discuss it. But, he later became a victim of Basil’s maneuverings. Rathana Thera has reached formal agreement with JHU theoretician Ashoka Abeygunawardena with regard to the points made by Basil, and then agreed to implement the ex-minister’s plan together with him.

Then, Rathana Thera, Abeygunawardena and Dilith Jayaweera, the closest friend of Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, met the ex-defence secretary, discussed the plan and got it approved. Rathana Thera and Abeygunawardena made sure that Champika and other leaders of the JHU knew nothing of all these, which they also hid from Chatura Senaratne, son of Rajitha Senaratne and a founding member of Pivithuru Hetak, saying he was a political novice. By now, the JHU has clearly been divided.

This plan to get the premiership to his brother by Basil, who is very good at striking political deals, has reached its climax by overcoming all other political plans, in the same manner he reached deals in 2005 with the LTTE to made him president.
