Dubai millionaire accuses model & actress

Colombo Additional Magistrate Nishantha Peiris yesterday (13) granted bail to actress Aksha Sudari who is accused of criminal breach of trust after taking Rs 40 million from an Indian national.

She was released on a surety bail of Rs 30 million and cash bail of Rs 25 000. Sudari is said to have taken the money when she was in a relationship with him.

Sudari's passport was impounded and she was asked to report to the CID between 9:00 a.m. and 12 noon every Sunday. She was also advised not to intervene in the CID investigations. Earlier an Indian national, K.V. Gopirajah had lodged a complaint with the CID against Sudari.

Meanwhile Sudari has requested anticipatory bail stating that the CID is attempting to arrest her. Aksha Sudari, whose real name is Gamage Asha Kumari is a resident of Raththanapitiya. Sudari said that she met Gopiraj when she was filming in India in January 2014 and that they started dating.
She added that Gopiraj was married, but he had promised to marry her. She went to Dubai in November 2014, on his invitation with a cousin, Rehana Yahiya. Gopiraj paid for business class tickets for both women, bore all the expenses during the trip and reserved a suite at a luxury hotel in Dubai.

During the trip she had been very intimate with Gopiraj and he had showered her with gifts when she left Dubai. He did all this because he wanted to marry her. Gopiraj was employed in an oil company in Dubai and a house at Station Road, Dehiwala was procured for them to live. Gopiraj had agreed to buy her a car for her birthday.
He had also given her a Rolex watch and diamond jewellery. In addition each time he got a bonus he had given her US $ 40,000. Gopiraj has asked her to come to Dubai on 15 January 2015, on her birthday, and when she got there, she found Gopiraj in a compromising position with a Malaysian woman.

CID told court that Gopiraj has given Sudari Rs 142 million. On 15 occasions between 17 July and 29 December 2014, he has given her US $ 98,000 and Rs 2.4 million for business ventures. The Rolex the actress is wearing is Rs 4.5 million and she was given a house worth Rs 25 million, CID said. The case will be taken up again on 16 July.
