Why Did Gammanpila Consent Into Signing An MoU He Didn’t Agree With? JHU Questions

The Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU), says the issues that its member Udaya Gammanpila has suddenly raised concerning the Opposition Presidential candidate and his movement, after re-joining the government yesterday are extremely puzzling.

“Our MoU with Maithripala was signed upon receiving full consent of every member of the party’s central committee. Gammanpila did not express any objection to the decision on teaming up with the Opposition or regarding the MoU we signed with Maithripala Sirisena,” JHU leader Omalpe Sobitha thera had said speaking at a press conference this morning.

He had said that even two days ago, when Gammanpila had said he does not hold any reservations about the decision made to support common candidate Sirisena at the upcoming polls.

“It is puzzling as to how or why he would suddenly have an issue with our decisions just ten days into signing the agreement,” he added.

Meanwhile, JHU frontliner Patali Champika Ranawaka who had also expressed his views at the media briefing had said that they will not back-down or abnadon their cause due to crossovers or any kind of mud-slinging campaigns aimed at them.
