UNP
Parliamentarian Lakshman Kiriella says that the government has lost two thirds
of its power, with several government ministers pledging their support to the
Common Candidate.
He made this
statement at a public rally in Yatinuwara on Thursday morning.
UNP MP,
Lakshman Kiriella said that he is disappointed about Tissa Attanayake, because
after suffering for many years in the opposition and when the time has come to
reap the harvest, he jumped on to the sinking ship. And that however, he cannot
change his destiny.
“I need
to tell you another important news. The government has lost two thirds of its
power after two more ministers from the government defected yesterday. We can
create a majority power ourselves now if we want. Now the SLFP is calling me
because I too was once a part of them. So now they are calling me too. However
nothing has happened to us”
said
Lakshman Kiriella.
Meanwhile,
UNP Central Provincial Councillor, Mayantha Dissanayake stated that today this
country is in the midst of a critical battle. President Mahinda Rajapaksa would
have never expected that his
General
Secretary, Former Mahaweli Minister and Minister of Health, Maithripala
Sirisena would stand up against his rule.
Subsequent
to this public rally, the group present, engaged in a protest march in opposition
to the election-related violence which took place over the past few days in the
Kandy District.
The group
which marched from the UNP office in Yattinuwara to Pilimathalawa created
awareness among the public there.
