Separate Muslim TV Channel

( March 2, 2015, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) There are rumours circulating, that there is intense lobbying for the establishment of an exclusive “Muslim TV Channel”.

The Muslim community in Sri Lanka is strongly opposed to the founding of such a TV Channel. The main reason being that such TV Channels may completely come under the control of extremist organizations.- vis-à-vis – The ISIS, ISIL, Al-Qaeda, Taliban – some of which are well-known for their degenerate excesses against humanity and who are well-funded.

Money will pour in for the establishment of mushroom organizations who will be in support of such man-made extremist ideologies and each organization will vie for a slot in that very channel.

We need not elaborate on the outcome of such competition .

To make a long story short, our peaceful country will be riddled with such riffraff, who under the guise of propagating their respective brands of Islam will destroy the peace prevailing in Sri Lanka.

We can see what is happening in Iraq, Syria, Egypt, Lebanon, Pakistan etc. There will be no end to in-fighting amongst these radical groups, killings will be rampant and our wonderful little Sri Lanka will be torn to shreds.

The end result will be another disaster for Sri Lanka.

We therefore, appeal to the authorities concerned : “ Please do not allow the establishment of a separate Muslim TV Channel.”

The times allocated for the broadcasting and televising Muslim programmes by the State Media and other private media are more than enough for this community of Muslims in Sri Lanka.
