The bribery commission has sought assistance of Interpol in its investigation into the controversial Boeing 727 cargo airplane which has no registration in Sri Lanka.
The airplane had been leased by Cosmos Aviation owned by former supervisory MP Sajin Vaas Gunawardena, and found abandoned at the airport following a revelation by Sri Lanka Mirror.
Nimalsiri to be arrested?
It is believed the airplane had been used to transport weapons for foreign terrorists.
If that is proven, director general and CEO of the Civil Aviation Authority H.M.C. Nimalsiri could be arrested for allowing the airplane to be allowed flights and parking in Sri Lanka, say commission sources.
Authority sources also say several other irregularities committed by its DG are also coming to light.
