SLFP advisor Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga has decided to take a firm political decision over S.B. Dissanayake’s being given a ministerial position in the coalition government.
Over this, she has expressed her strong objections to both
the president and the prime minister.
It was minister Rajitha Senaratne who has influenced the
appointment of Dissanayake as well as Pavitradevi Wanniarachchi as ministers.
Social media too, has strongly criticized the duo, who had
insulted and rebuked the ex-president during the presidential election
platform.
Further criticism of Dissanayake
Meanwhile, state minister Rosie Senanayake says she still
has reservations about Dissanayake, who is a cabinet member of her own
government.
During the presidential polls, she described Dissanayake as
a person who insulted women, and said it was an insult to all women when he had
rebuked Kumaratunga.
Ministers who had insulted
Minister Thalatha Athukorale says president Maithripala
Sirisena has demonstrated his gentlemanly conduct by offering ministerial
positions to those who had strongly criticized him.
She says she has no personal objections to the newly
appointed ministers.
What we had wanted to do was to change the family-based
authoritarian regime of president Mahinda Rajapaksa and ensure victory for
Maithripala Sirisena, she has told BBC Sandeshaya.
A grave insult to women
Commenting on Dissanayake’s insult against Kumaratunga,
minister Athukorale said it was the appointee who should have given it a
thought when being appointed.
Attempts to reach Dissanayake and Wanniarahchchi for
comments were unsuccessful.
