The father of the boy who was struck down by a vehicle at Kalapaluwawa in Rajagiriya on December 29 said that his son was the victim of a Defender Jeep that accompanied the convoy of Indian film star Salman Khan.

Susil Tillekaratne said his son
Savin (18) was hit when the speeding Defender Jeep veered off the road.
The vehicle also hit Savin's
girlfriend Kavindya (17) who was wedged into a roadside lamp post.
The vehicle also ditched and its
occupants escaped in another back-up Defender Jeep.
The two victims are currently in
a serious situation and undergoing medical treatment at the Colombo general
hospital.
Susil Tillekaratne said that his
son is currently on a life support system with his lungs severely damaged and a
brain operation performed on a fractured scull.
MK Sunil, the father of Kavindya
said his daughter had one of her legs crushed from the knee downwards.
The two victims were returning
after a tuition class.
Police have taken the hit and
run jeep into custody along with another vehicle.
The driver of the offending
vehicle has undergone treatment for minor injuries.
Police spokesman Ajith Rohan
said the vehicle was driven by a 23-year old University student. But Susil
Tillekaratne said the driver was not a student but the driver of a government
MP.
He said there were three others
in the vehicle.
Ajith Rohana said two Defender
Jeeps with the same registration number have been taken into custody and
further investigations are being conducted.
