Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya is expected to cross over to support Common Opposition Candidate Maithripala Sirisena according to informed sources.
The main reason for Siyambalapitiya leaving the government is said to be over the quota of jobs he was promised at the Sri Lanka Telecom. He was assured of granting jobs to 60 employees to fill vacancies, but 40 of it was given to Member of Parliament Namal Rajapaksa.
He is said to have shown his displeasure over the raw deal at a meeting with President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Minister Siyambalapitiya is known to have been critical in his views of government policies and is a close aide of former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaranatunga.
