Cabinet reshuffle likely, Nimal’s name considered for PM post

President Mahinda Rajapaksa it is learnt has spoken to several government seniors about holding a cabinet reshuffle within the next few days.
However, the President it is learnt is faced with the difficult task of appointing ministers due to the uncertainty among senior Sri Lanka Freedom party (SLFP) ministers in the government.
Many senior SLFP ministers have already made public statements about their displeasure at the government’s current path and the failure of the party leaders to address the issued faced by the country and people.
Meanwhile, government sources told Lanka Herald that the President is looking at making in the post of Prime Minister and Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva’s name is being considered for the post.
De Silva, who was critical of the administration a few months earlier, has now become a loyalist of the government leaders following Maithripala Sirisena’s defection from the government.
