“We point out a mistake of the government in order to correct that mistake, and not to ruin the government. When we point out such a mistake, what the government does is show files to frighten us. That cannot be done forever. Half of the ministers and MPs remain in the government due to that fear. But, this Mervyn is not frightened of those files. My boy got assaulted, had his nose broken and is behind bars without bail. I know why he is not given bail. Those games cannot be played forever. If not for the president, it was a long time ago that I got out. The president is a worthy man. I cannot get out by looking at his face. But, there is a limit to our patience,” so said public relations minister Mervyn Silva to a ‘Lanka News Web’ correspondent over the phone.
Commenting further, he said, “We can suffer anything after coming to Colombo from Beliatte. We did not come to Colombo with police guards. Those were given recently. Without those, it will not be all over for us. People like Mangala and I get votes from our caste even if we contest from TNA. If we are lost to them, they will realize our value.” When asked as to whether he has any intention of joining the opposition, minister Silva said that everyone will be able to see a ‘big transit’ within the coming week.
