The United National Party and the “United National Front for Good Governance” led by Patali Champika Ranawaka are to enter a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) tomorrow (12) to contest the forthcoming General election under the UNP, 'Sri Lanka Mirror' learns.
The MoU is to be signed by UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe and Patali Champika Ranawaka at Temple Trees, reports add.
According to reports, several candidates are to be fielded as follows :
Patali Champika Ranawaka - Colombo District
Ven. Athuraliye Rathana Thera - Gampaha District
Rajitha Senaratne & Reginald Cooray - Kalutara District
Karunaratne Paranavithana - Rathnapura District

Several to join UNP
In addition, several former MPs who had not joined the above front will join the UNP and contest from under the 'elephant' symbol.

Accordingly, S.B. Dissanayake, Dr. Sudarshani Fernandopulle and M.K.D.S. Gunewardena are to contest from the Kandy, Gampaha and Trincomalee districts respectively.
Also, joining the UNP independently, Hirunika Premachandra and Piyasena Gamage are to contest from Colombo and Galle districts respectively.
Meanwhile, 'Sri Lanka Mirror' learns that around 15 more SLFPers are engaged in final rounds of discussion to join the UNP.
