The Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) is preparing to make a
decisive exposé over the 1500m rupee-fraud said to have taken place while
importing coal for the Norochcholai coal power plant and over 'casino
politics'.
JHU General Secretary Champika Ranawaka is to further
reveal details at 3.30pm on Nov. 05, at the Mahaweli Centre auditorium.
In a bid to win back the affiliation of the JHU, the
government has stated that measures will be taken against this fraud. However,
taking a firm stance, Minister Ranawaka too has said he is prepared to reveal
corrupt activities in the ministry of power and energy and links the ministry
maintains with certain government bigwigs.
Noting that he, who opposed the unloading of this coal,
was removed several days afterwards, Minister Champika recently said to media
that he was thankful to Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi for revealing facts
that he was unable to reveal.
Meanwhile, reports from the CID reveal that with this
statement of Minister Champika, a probe over the fraud is yet to be initiated.
