UNP top posts to go 'backstage'?

From SL Mirror
The UNP is discussing to appoint talented, promising individuals not engaged in busy mainstream politics for the posts of party chairman and secretary, in a move similar to that in the J.R. Jayewardene era.
The move is being considered after organising activities within the party had slowed down after individuals with ministerial portfolios were appointed to these posts. Also, another objective is said to be the need to face the upcoming local council polls with a renewed organising strength.
Reports also say that the post of deputy leader as well as the leadership council would be officially dismissed with these reforms coming to action.
As these discussions are underway, separate talks have been initiated with the UNP calling to appoint ministers Kabir Hashim and Akila Viraj as the new party Chairman and secretary respectively.
