Tiran sees revenge behind move

Democratic National Alliance (DNA) Member of Parliament, Tiran Alles claims there seems to be an attempt to take political revenge on him by raising false accusations.

The police had today obtained a court order preventing Alles and five other Directors of a company established following the 2004 tsunami, from leaving the country.

Alles and the Directors of the company, which was established to provide relief to the tsunami affected families, have been accused of fraud.

However speaking to reporters this evening, Alles denied the charges and said that he feels the allegations are part of political revenge being taken against him.

Alles was once a close associate of former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka and he was also instrumental in securing Fonseka’s release from prison.

However a rift later emerged between Fonseka and Alles which saw Alles severe his political connections with Fonseka. (Colombo Gazette)

Tiran Alles barred from leaving country

Parliamentarian Tiran Alles along with five other Directors of the Radha Company were barred from leaving the country by the Fort Magistrate’s Court in connection with alleged fraud in companies purportedly set up to reconstruct houses for tsunami-affected people, Police said. 

They said Shanthi Kumar, Gajan Kumar and their mother Anandi Shanthi Kumar, said to be directors of a fake company named Oomps textiles Ltd., were also arrested and produced in the Colombo Magistrate’s Court today. 

Police said the Radha Company established in 2006 under the Chairmanship of MP Tiran Alles for the purpose of constructing houses for Tsunami-affected people in the East Coast had obtained Rs.645 million from the Treasury with the approval of the Presidential Secretariat but that no houses were constructed. 

They said the companies, ‘B.M.K. Holdings’ and ‘Everest Civil Engineering’ also set up for the purpose of reconstructing houses for Tsunami affected people in the East coast, were not registered and bore false addresses. 

The Police confirmed that the funds collected by the Radha Company were credited to Oomps textiles Ltd., through the abovementioned fake companies and that Rs.125 million of the funds allocated by the Treasury were fraudulently misappropriated. 

They said the Radha Company was shut down in 2006, the same year it was set up.

CID To Probe Tiran's Revelation On Money Deal Linked To LTTE Influenced Election Boycott

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) is to commence an investigation on Parliamentarian Tiran Alles and the alleged transaction with the LTTE which led to an presidential election boycott in the North in November, 2005.

Tiran Alles made a public revelation in 2010 saying Basil Rajapaksa personally handed over, at his office, Rs. 180 million to the then LTTE financial controller Emil Kanthan to ensure that the people of the north refrained from voting at the 2005 presidential election. Alles added that the deal took place at the request of the then presidential candidate Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Following a request by the then Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa to introduce him to a person capable of doing a deal with the LTTE, Allaes said he had introduced Emil Kanthan to Basil Rajapaksa. The meetig between Rajapaksa and Emil Kanthan, according to the Parliamentarian, was held at Alles’s office.

After consulting the LTTE leadership, Emil Kanthan had come back and said the outfit wanted Rs. 180 million to buy boats. Basil Rajapaksa said they only wanted the LTTE to get the people of the north to boycott the presidential polls.

He said he had revealed all these in his statement to the TID in 2007 subsequent to his arrest by them, and as a result the Attorney General had withdrawn all charges against him. Alles also said he had informed president Rajapaksa on February 14, 2007 about all these through a sworn affidavit signed by Ven. Uduwe Dhammaloka Thera who supports the president.

How Mahinda Rajapaksa Channeled Money to the LTTE

Damning evidence of the government's secret deal with the LTTE has now surfaced, revealing President Mahinda Rajapakse granted unsolicited multi million rupee bogus housing projects to the Tigers to allegedly facilitate the transfer of money under the deal.

The bogus projects were being given to the Wanni even as a water crisis depriving some 15,000 farmers of water raged on in Mawilaru, a humanitarian crisis was brewing in Muttur resulting in thousands of Muslims being displaced from their homes, and hundreds of soldiers had been killed in fierce fighting ordered by Rajapakse no less.

The projects were whitewashed through a cabinet paper submitted on August 2, 2006 by Rajapakse himself well after the decision had already been taken and after a large sum of money had already been transferred to the said company.

Two Part Deal 
In fact it was part of the deal agreed upon before the presidential election with the LTTE in exchange for the Tigers enforcing a boycott of the poll in the north and east.

The deal with the Tigers our investigation reveals was two fold. The first part was the payment of a large sum of money by Basil Rajapakse to the LTTE front man Emil Kanthan. Some of the money was in dollar notes, the numbers of which the LTTE had noted before putting it to good use to further their goal for a separate state. 
The second part of the deal was to come into effect in the event of Mahinda Rajapakse's victory and was to include inter alia a housing project for the LTTE, disarming the Karuna group, appointing LTTE nominees to various political offices and resumption of talks in Thailand.

The cabinet note forwarded by the President on August 2, 2006 sought approval to grant the first housing project in the north and east in terms of the post election part of the deal. It was for forms sake to be under the Rebuilding the Nation Jayalanka Housing Programme and given to B & K Holdings (Pvt) Ltd. of No. 437A, 3rd Lane, Hirunavukulam, Thandikulum, Vavuniya. The deal was for the construction of 400 housing units at Trincomalee; and another 400 units in Batticaloa was awarded to Everest Civil Engineering services of 113/1, Mill Road, Kulangkulam, Vavuniya.

The note also states ambiguously that 400 other housing units will be implemented in other districts but do not even name the districts, merely stating the entire cost estimate for the 'required' 1200 housing units would be Rs. 757,166,000 (inclusive of consultancy fees).

Key Player
The key player in the entire drama was of course Emil Kanthan, the man the Attorney General's Department and the Terrorism Investigations Division have identified as a key LTTE intelligence officer in records filed in court.

In fact, former Airport and Aviation Chief Tiran Alles was arrested for allegedly providing funds to Kanthan, a matter he has hotly denied but an investigation by The Sunday Leader reveals it was none other than President Mahinda Rajapakse who provided funds to a front company of Kanthan under the guise of a housing project. 

The consultant named in the cabinet note is GS Builders & Consultants of Vavuniya, who top sources said was also connected to Emil Kanthan.

Tiran’s Maubima Newspaper Urges Govt To Block News Websites

The Maubima newspaper owned by businessman turned politician Tiran Alles, has called upon the government to censor and block news websites – which in their opinion – have been publishing false information in the wake of the announcement of Presidential polls.

In its editorial published yesterday (12), the writer has claimed that various organized groups in foreign countries have been increasingly planting false news items in and have been circulating such misleading information through social media sites including Facebook and Twitter.

Though no credible source has been quoted, the editorial claims that certain members of these various ‘conspirator’ groups operating from foreign countries have been managing about 300 accounts by each person, which have then been deployed to mislead internet users by feeding them false information.

The writer has gone on to state that although the government has on previous occasions taken measures to censor and block certain news websites following disclosures made by the Maubima newspaper on the ongoing ‘web mafia’, no action has been taken so far concerning the increase of false information being circulated among local internet users in target of the upcoming presidential polls.

Sajith - Tiran - Tissa Conspiracies keep UNP in limbo

Latest reports say the Private Secretary of Sajith Premadasa is going to join the government. His name is P M A Gunadasa.

Internal sabotage plots within the opposition continue to come to light with UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake expected to join ranks with the UPFA today.

Reliable reports reaching the Colombo Telegraph are now confirming that DNA MP and Businessman Tiran Alles has been in tight negotiations with the Government on Attanayake’s behalf.

UNP Deputy Leader Sajith Premadasa has been a tacit supporter of the move to effect Attanayake’s defection to the Government.

As a precursor to this week’s crossover Premadasa launched into a chorus of high praise for Attanayake at the UNP Convention last Saturday.

Premadasa told the membership at the convention that it was Attanayake who was responsible for bringing unity back to the UNP. Premadasa said that it was because of Attanayake that he was even able to speak at the convention that day.

Highly placed UNP sources said Premadasa was strategically elevating Attanayake’s profile to ensure that his departure is perceived as a severe blow to the main opposition party.

Colombo Telegraph can now reveal that straight after the UNP convention on Saturday, Attanayake went to Alles’ residence. On Sunday night Attanayake spent several hours at the businessman politico’s residence negotiating the details of the crossover deal.

Attanayake who failed to win his electorate in the Kandy District in the 2010 general election is a member of the UNP’s National List in Parliament.

Tiran Alles is well known to be in league with Defence Secretary and presidential sibling Gotabaya Rajapaksa. Colombo Telegraph has previously revealed that Alles has been a member of Gotabaya Rajapaksa‘s Tuesday Tea Party at Central Bank, together with Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal, Chief Justice Mohan Pieris and the Defence Secretary himself. Alles is also a close associate of Gotabaya acolyte and high networth individual Dilith Jayaweera.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Tiran Alles and Sajith Premadasa gathered at Jayaweera’s Citrus resort in April this year to watch the finals of the T20 World Cup in a special private room.

Alles is Premadasa’s main financial backer and political advisor. Alles’ newspapers strongly back Premadasa and recently engaged in a overt campaign to have Ranil Wickremesinghe appointed opposition candidate to contest at the January 8 presidential election. The maneuver was believed to have been made in order to weaken the UNP chances at the election and ensure Premadasa could take control of the party post-poll.

It is now an open secret that the Rajapaksa regime desperately wanted UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe to contest the January election, since his support among the Sinhalese Buddhist majority has taken a beating in recent years. UNP insiders remarked that it was curious how the Rajapaksa administration, Sajith Premadasa and Tiran Alles all wanted the same candidate to contest the presidential poll.

රනිල් වික්‍රමසිංහ ජනාධිපතිවරණ සටනින් ඉවත්ව වෙනත් ජය ගත හැකි පොදු අපේක්ෂකයෙකුට එය පැවරීමට තීරණය කිරීමත් සමග රනිල් නම් දුර්වල ලෙහෙසියෙන් පරාජයට පත් කළ හැකි තරඟකරුවා නොමැති වීමෙන් රාජපක්ෂවරු නන්නත්තාර වී තිබේ. 

කෙසේ හෝ ජනාධිපතිවරණ සටනට එවන්නේ රනිල්ම යැයි ටිරාන් කිලී බැසිල් තිදෙනාට සජිත් ප්‍රේමදාස විසින් ටිරාන්ගේ නිවසේදීම දී තිබූ සහතිකය විනාශ වී යෑම ගැන රාජපක්ෂවරු ටිරාන් අලස් ට අම්මා මෝ නැතිව බැන වැදී තිබේ. රනිල්ට අවශ්‍ය ප්‍රමාණයට වඩා පහර දීම නිසා මෙය සිදුවී යැයි ඔවුන් ටිරාන්ට බැන වැදී ඇත.

කෙසේ නමුත් යලිත් වරක් රනිල්වම කුමන මගඩියකින් හෝ ජනාධිපතිවරණ අපේක්ෂකයා ලෙස දමා ගැනීමට ටිරාන් රාජපක්ෂවරුන්ට සැලැසුමක් ලබා දී ඇත. එය නම් රනිල් නැතිනම් වෙනත් අයෙකුට සහාය නොදී තනිව ඉල්ලීමේ ස්ථාවරයකට ජෙනරාල් ෆොන්සේකා කෙසේ හෝ තල්ලු කරවා ගැනීමයි. 

ඒ සඳහා ජෙනරාල් ෆොන්සේකාට දැනට තිබෙන නඩු පාවිච්චි කිරීමට සැලසුම් කර තිබේ. ජෙනරාල් ෆොන්සේකාගේ බෑනා වන ධනුන තිලකරත්නට විරුද්ධ නඩුව ලබන දෙසැම්බර් 5 වෙනිදා විභාගයට ගැනීමට නියමිතය. මෙම නඩුවෙන් ධනුන නිදහස් කිරීමට නම් ජෙනරාල් ෆොන්සේකා ‘රනිල් නැතිනම් තනියම ඉල්ලන‘ තැනට වැඩ කටයුතු සැලැස්වීම ටිරාන් විසින් බාර ගෙන ඇත. 

ධනුන තිලකරත්න යනු හිටපු බ්‍රිගේඩියර් තිලකරත්නගේ පුත්‍රයා ය. බ්‍රිගේඩියර් තිලකරත්නගේ අයියාගේ පුතා වන්නේ හෂාන් තිලකරත්නය. හෂාන් දැන් සිටින්නේ රාජපක්ෂවරුන්ගේ තුරුල්ලේ ය. ඔහුවද මෙම කූට්ටාලි ක්‍රියාවට යොදවා ගෙන තිබේ. 

කෙසේ වෙතත් ධනුන සහ ජෙනරාල් ෆොන්සේකාගේ දියණිය මේ වන විට වෙන්ව ජීවත්වෙති. ධනුන වෙනත් තරුණියක් කසාද බැඳීමට යන අතර ෆොන්සේකාගේ දියණියද වෙනත් තරුණයෙකු කසාද බැඳීමට සූදානම් වේ. මේ  නිසා දියණිය සහ ධනුන දික්කසාද විය යුතු අතර ඊට දෙදෙනාම කැමැත්තෙන් පසුවෙති. නමුත් පරහකට තිබෙන්නේ ධනුනට ජෙනරාල් ෆොන්සේකා නිසා වැටී ඇති නඩුවය. ධනුන පමණක් නොව ධනුනගේ අම්මාද නීති විරෝධී ඇමරිකන් ඩොලර් මිලියන භාගයක් සහ තවත් විදේශ මුදල් සමග අල්ලා ගැනීමේ නඩුවක් පවතී. මේ සියළු නඩු ජෙනරාල් ෆොන්සේකාගේ ඡන්ද ව්‍යාපාරය නිසා වැටුනු නඩුය. එනිසා ඒවායින් ඔවුන් මුදවා ගැනීමට ෆොන්සේකාටද වගකීමක් ඇතැයි පෙන්වති.

ඒ අනුව දැන් මෙකී නඩු නිදහස් කිරීම ඇපයට තබා ජෙනරාල් ෆොන්සේකා බිලී බා ගෙන කෙසේ හෝ රනිල් වික්‍රමසිංහ නම් දුර්වල තරඟ කරුවා සටනට කැඳවා ගැනීමට රාජපක්ෂවරුන් සහ ටිරාන් අලස් කුමන්ත්‍රණය කරති. 

ටිරාන් අලස් ජෙනරාල් ෆොන්සේකාගේ පැරණි මිතුරෙකි. ජෙනරාල් නිදහස් වී එළියට ආවේද ටිරාන් රාජපක්ෂවරුන් සමග කරන ලද කූට්ටාලි කම් අනුවය. එනිසා ජෙනරාල් ෆොන්සේකාට ටිරාන් අලස් තමන්ගේ ජනාධිපතිවරණ ව්‍යාපාරයට ලැබුනු මුදල් කෙතරම් ගසා කෑවද අමතක කළ නොහැක. අනෙක් අතට තම දියණියට සහනයක් ලබා ගැනීමට දියණිවරුන්ගෙන්ද අනෝමා ෆොන්සේකාගෙන්ද බලපෑම් එමට ය. 

ජෙනරාල් ෆොන්සේකාට යුද බිමේදී සතුරා මිතුරා කව්දැයි හොඳින් හඳුනා ගැනීමට හැකියාව තිබුනද දේශපාලන පිටියේදී ඒ සම්බන්ධයෙන් ලදරුවෙකි. 

කෙසේ වෙතත් ජෙනරාල් ෆොන්සේකා වැනී ජනතාවගේ වීරයෙක් අවසන් මොහොතේ ගූ තීන්දුවක් ගෙන ජනතාවට කොකා නොපෙන්වනු ඇතැයි විපාක්ෂික ජනතාව විශ්වාස කරති. 

මේ අතර ජෙනරාල් ෆොන්සේකා සහ රනිල් වික්‍රමසිංහ ඊයේ රාත්‍රී හමුවී රහසිගත සාකච්ඡාවක් පැවැත්වීය. රනිල් අපේක්ෂකත්වයෙන් ඉවත්වීමට තීන්දු කිරීමට පෙර  දෙදෙනා අතර පැවැති සාකච්ඡාවකදී රනිල් ජනාධිපති හෝ අගමැති වුවහොත් ඉන්පසු ජෙනරාල් ෆොන්සේකා ආරක්ෂක ඇමැති කරන බව හෝ රනිල් විසින්ම ආරක්ෂක ඇමැති ධූරය තබා ගන්නේ නම් නියෝජ්‍ය ආරක්ෂක ඇමැති ධූරය ජෙනරාල් ෆොන්සේකාට ලබා දෙන බවට වාචික එකඟතාවයක් තිබිණ. 

ඉන්පසුව කරු ජයසූරිය ප්‍රසිද්ධ ප්‍රකාශයක් කරමින් එජාපය බලය ලබා ගැනීමෙන් පසු ජෙනරාල් ෆොන්සේකාට දේශපාලන පළිගැනීම් වශයෙන් දී ඇති නඩු තීන්දු ඉවත් කර ඔහුගෙන් ඉවත් කර ඇති හමුදා නාමය පදක්කම් ආදී සියල්ල පැය 72 ක් තුල ලබා දෙන බවට පොරොන්දු විය‍.
